It looks like I signed up to the wrong ISP. I do not agree at all with what they are doing but yet to have faced the issue of the ISP wide proxy (fingers crossed it won’t happen). An article on Cnet says certain UK ISPs have put a proxy between it’s subscribers and the Internet. This means they can filter any traffic they want to from inappropriate content to innocent websites and services.

I do not agree with the article title on Cnet because Wikipedia has the right to block by IP, a widely used technique and therefore the ISPs themselves are not blocking the site directly.
