Velleman Mini Kit

Flashing Heart

Now armed with a soldering iron and some soldering wire I wanted to try my soldering skills before getting my Arduino. From the first visit I got a kit from Maplin which includes all the components, board and battery holder (no battery). All I needed was the soldering iron, solder and skills.

I chose the “Flasing LED Sweetheat” kit model “MK101” which consisted of LEDs mounted on a heart shaped PCB.

I was scared it wouldn’t work but the instructions were clear and simple with little explanation but I understood it. After soldering all 28 LEDs as well as various switches, capacitors. resistors, etc the final results were good except where I screwed up one of the soldering points. This led to 4 LEDs not working but the rest does. A simple resoldering would fix it but I need to buy some desoldering wick.
