Harman Kardon HKTS 7 Mini Review

Pairing with my Onkyo TX-SR508 A/V receiver I got a set of Harman Kardon HKTS 117.

The speaker cables that came with the speakers were colour coded to the standard colours so figuring out all 4 channels and wires should be easy.

To go with the rear speakers I bought a pair of stands. The stands were expensive but are worth it. The main material used for the construction is metal and the concrete block for the base. It was really easy to put together with the hardest part was feeding the speaker cable down the stand.

The design and the speakers are aesthetically pleasing and sounds great. The power of the speakers are more than enough for our living room.

The centre channel speaker sits at a downward angle so it is aimed at sitting above the T.V or at a higher setting than a T.V stand. There is no built in way to change the angle.

The Bass is massive! The unit takes up 3/4 of the box it comes in and is very powerful. It even gets to the point where it seems the satellite speakers are not up to match the sub woofer because of the power it has.

The speaker cables it comes with were more than enough for the front speakers but were adequate for rear. There was enough slack to go around the side of a room, above a door and behind the sofa. The rear speakers were approximately 2-3 metres from the AV receiver. Any further and more / new speaker cables will need to be purchased to extend the range.

Nice mini-review with good set of photos, although it’s worth pointing out that you have the HKTS7 set rather than the HKTS11 (you only have single woofer in the satellites and the sub is a TS7 rather than a TS11) both are great packages, but thought you should state which ones these are exactly.
