Microsoft ReadyBoost

I got a Sandisk Cruzer Micro 4GB as a Christmas present so I transfered all my files off my old Iomega Micro Mini.

Tommy gave me the idea of using the old flash drive as a ReadyBoost drive when he was asking about Vista. A format and a bit of googling later I had it set up. I had more or less the full 1GB (992mb binary) for ReadyBoost.

About a week later when I got back from Liverpool, my flash drive was reduced to 560mb. I did a check disk and scan disk in Windows but it couldn’t recover or fix any of the bad sectors. The stick was usually running hot and it kept flashing.

Although I have had the Iomega drive for over 4 years, I find it funny how just using it for about a week as a ReadyBoost drive can lose over half the capacity of the stick. Also having a hot memory stick running and constantly flashing isn’t very nice to have.
