iPhone 2.0 < 2.0.1 Upgrade

I noticed there was a firmware update for my iPhone on Monday night and tried to download and install the 250MB firmware! Whilst that was downloading I searched for reviews on the firmware to make sure it wasn’t bricking or decimating my exisiting setup. Since it was released late Monday evening in USA I saw it pretty early and there was a lack of reviews on the new update.

After 45 minutes of waiting it had finally reached 100% but I got an error that it was disconnected / timed out. I can’t remember the error code but it begain with a 3. I proceeded to download it again and again and again. After the third try it was getting to 4am in the morning. Since I had to be up and ready by 9am it wasn’t looking good and I gave up.

On Tuesday when I got back from my busy day around the country I tried it again. Once again it had failed with the same error and took just as long to download as before. I decided to try and use the MacBook Pro to download and install the firmware. It took slightly longer to download so I watched House M.D to pass the time.

It is now 2:22 and the firmware had downloaded, unpacked and installed fine with a full sync to boot. I’m looking forward to the fixes and speed increase which I have seen other people talk about.
