DPL iPhone

iPhone In Holder

iPhone In Holder

I wanted to buy a car holder for my iPhone so I could use some of the GPS features. I Google’d my way to finder a pretty good looking holder which does not generic or have two massive arms on the side to hold it. It must have the bottom free so I can insert the charger cable.

DPL is a chinese manufacturer and the holder can be found on eBay as well as other online retail shops.

The holder comes in two parts. The back plate which goes onto the iPhone and holds it at 3 points. The plate then slots onto the goose neck mount.

There is a ball joint with a screw lock which does not lock per say but makes it stiffer to move. The suction cup has a lever so it sticks really well. The neck is very stiff maybe a bit too stiff but I can live with it.

Problems

Whilst the mounting is very minimalistic, it is quite hard to get in and out without trying to scratch the side. It hasn’t happened yet but I’m worried it will. It’s not an easy dump it in like the TomTom mounts.
Also the mounts on the side corner lifts the corners of the screen protector. It doesn’t damage them but makes it look you left bubbles in the corners. Over time I noticed the bubbles disappeared. I think the bubbles are so close to the edge the just eventually push themselves out in my pocket.

Overall it’s a nice product and for the cheap price it’s worth it especially the aesthetics value.
