Canon Hacker’s Development Kit (CHDK)
I found an article on Life Hacker and it appears that people are creating cool firmwares for Canon cameras. The best thing about it is:
- Free as in beer
- Adds new features
- Scripting functionality
- DOES NOT OVERWRITE FIRMWARE
The last one I think is one of the most important ones. You can chose to boot the CHDK or use the traditional Canon firmware.
Unfortunately it does not support my camera (Ixus 75) yet but some is working on it and a driver is out for the firmware version above mine.
