Autopackage

I went to update aMSN on Linux today (because it kept bugging me to download the new version) and found that they are using a new packager. It’s called Autopackage (if you haven’t guessed) and it automatically detects your distribution and installs it appropriately.

It’s great! Finally an installer able to compete with the Windows installer. I followed the instructions on the site and off it went, downloaded the necessary packages for the installer to run and boom! Up came a tcl GUI interface. Running on Dapper Drake, it went smoothly and kept the theme that I was using (the default “Human” theme).

There are still problems like not being able to install without without doing dew extra steps if you was offline.
