Hijacked Telephone Line

First day back to work from the bank holiday weekend only to find the joy of it end abruptly. Got a call from Virgin Media on my mobile to say that “I” have ran up a around £93 worth of phone bill just on premium rate numbers excluding V.A.T! This all happened between Friday night to Saturday night but not Sunday. It also happened on Monday around 2am.

Not only that, there were numerous calls to mobile numbers too.

Keeley, my flat mate, tried to use the phone on Monday night but couldn’t get a dial tone. She rang the house number and found that it rang but the house phone didn’t ring. She didn’t think much of it.

Stupid Virgin Media have no complaint line but only a snail mail method of contacting them. Keeley is in the process of drafting up a complaint letter.

Frank has been going through some of the numbers given to me by Virgin Media from the weekend and premium rate numbers that have been dialed.

I found a really handy site that does a reverse lookup of premium rate numbers called ICSTIS. I typed in one of the premium numbers given to me and it turns out to be:
* This is classified as a Sexual Entertainment Services at a Premium Rate for BT customers number.
* It is provided by Cable & Wireless Plc.
* And costs 75ppm [in pence or pounds where ‘pm’ means ‘per minute’ and ‘pc’ means ‘per call’].

I am calling for the people for some help!
