I have ordered a T.V tuner and try and get MythTV or Freevo or something similar working on my Linux box. I hope this way I don’t have to lug my T.V up to ware and just use my Linux box instead. It should record too so fingers crossed it will go smoothly.

    (Update)

I have got the tuner card and installed the basic things and I went for MythTv as it was more of a PVR than just a TV like software.

So far I have the card setup and most of the MythTV things too but I can’t seem to change channels even though I have set the channel list. DVD playback works but not the ripping part. Haven’t tried other things like music and video playback yet and I still need to setup the remote.

All this ONLY took a format and a good day to day and a half to get it up and running.

Good old Linux “work hard for everything” policy.
